Please make sure that you are using:
CatDV 8.1.11, CatDV 9.0.6, or CatDV 10
Also, please make sure that you have the 'CatDV MXF Option'. This option enables CatDV to parse for metadata in MXF files, XDCAM EX MP4 files, and ancillary files, and it enables CatDV to properly archive the folder structure of certain camera formats. Please contact Squarebox (the makers of CatDV) to see what camera formats are currently supported with the 'CatDV MXF Option'. While our products can work with CatDV without this option, we do highlty recommend it for a more complete (and better) workflow.
IMPORTANT: If you experience any problems in creating proxies and/or playback in CatDV

Please enable 'Protected Mode' in CatDV. To enable 'Protected Mode', go to the CatDV Preferences and select 'Media Playback' and then check the option 'Protected player: Use separate QuickTime helper process'. Playback performance is a little less smooth in ‘Protected Mode’ but it will be more stable. Also, in newer versions of CatDV you may wish to also disable ‘scrub audio when dragging play head’ in the ‘Media Playback’ CatDV Preferences to make scrubbing in CatDV faster.
- If you are working with MXF files where the audio is stored in its own separate MXF file (i.e. Panasonic P2, Ikegami GFCAM, Avid, Sony SAM) it can help in CatDV to enable the Audio Small Segments in the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import Option application. Please see the BETA Features - Audio Only MXF Segment Size in the Calibrated{Q} MXF Import User Guide for more details.

Please note that Calibrated{Q} MXF Import for Windows and Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import for Windows
can only be purchased in a bundle with a Calibrated{Q} Decode codec in the 'Windows Bundles' section in our store.

Using CatDV on Mac OSX
(A) If you are on a Mac OSX Computer with either Final Studio 3 (FCP 7.0.3), Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6.0.6)**, FCP X, Compressor 3.5 or greater, or Motion 5:
- .MXF file support needs Calibrated{Q} MXF Import for OSX. Final Studio 3 (FCP 7.0.3), Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6.0.6)**, FCP X, Compressor 3.5 or greater, or Motion 5 comes with Apple's ProCodecs that will decode the video in the MXF files. To decode the video in AVID DNxHD .MXF, AVID Meridien .MXF or AVID Uncompressed .MXF files, you would need the Avid LE QuickTime Codecs v2.3.4 or v2.3.7
- XDCAM EX .MP4 file support needs Calibrated{Q} MP4-EX Import for OSX. Final Studio 3 (FCP 7.0.3), Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP 6.0.6)**, FCP X, Compressor 3.5 or greater, or Motion 5 comes with Apple's ProCodecs that will decode the video in the XDCAM EX MP4 files.
**IMPORTANT: Please note that some new video codecs are not available in FCP 6.0.6 such as AVC-Intra, certain XDCAM 50Mb 720p framerates, Long-GOP SD MPEG-2 and slow-mo XDCAM 50Mb. Support for those video codecs would require the new Apple ProCodecs that come withFinal Studio 3 (FCP 7.0.3), FCP X, Compressor 3.5 or greater, or Motion 5
(B) If you are on a Mac OSX Computer WITHOUT ANY VERSION of Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Studio, Compressor, or Motion:
- AVC-Intra .MOV file support needs Calibrated{Q} AVC-Intra Decode for OSX.
- AVC-Intra .MXF file support needs BOTH Calibrated{Q} MXF Import for OSX AND Calibrated{Q} AVC-Intra Decode for OSX.
